Davion Berry from Weber State has won StatSheet's Big Sky Player of the Week for February 18th. Joel Bolomboy from Weber State has won StatSheet Big Sky Freshman of the Week. Finally, Montana's Michael Weisner has won StatSheet's Big Sky 6th Man of the Week. Berry put up big numbers in rebounding (3.3 per game), shooting (60%), and assists (4 per game). The Weber State junior played well in victories against Idaho State, Montana, and Montana State.
Berry added 14 points and 3 steals in 31 minutes in a 56-40 win against Idaho State. He then added 16 points and 6 assists in a huge 87-63 win against Montana. Finally, Berry led all scoring with 21 points and added 5 assists, closing out the week with a 69-61 win over Montana State.
Davion Berry has been named StatSheet Big Sky Player of the Week one other time this season. He has also been a runner-up once and received an honorable mention. The runner-up this week is our own Jackson Stevenett. Honorable mention goes to senior Will Cherry from Montana.
StatSheet Big Sky Freshman of the Week: Weber State's Joel Bolomboy
Joel Bolomboy played an average of 21 minutes starting all 3 games for Weber State. In the win over Idaho State, Bolomboy registered 9 rebounds and 2 blocked shots. Then in the win against Montana, he put up 5 points and 2 rebounds. And closing it out with the win versus Montana State, Bolomboy racked up 3 rebounds and 5 blocked shots.
Amazingly, Joel Bolomboy has won the StatSheet Big Sky Freshman of the Week 4 times. The runner-up is our own A.J. Hess. Daniel Hill from Eastern Washington takes honorable mention.
StatSheet Big Sky 6th Man of the Week: Montana's Michael Weisner
Sophomore Michael Weisner, a 6-7 reserve forward, averaged 20 minutes over two games for the Grizzlies. In an 87-63 loss to Weber State, Weisner got 2 rebounds and 2 assists. During a 61-54 win against Idaho State, he racked up 10 points on 66% shooting.
This is the second StatSheet Big Sky 6th Man of the Week win for Michael Weisner. Michael Harvey, a senior forward from Portland State, is the runner up. Colin Chiverton, a senior forward from Eastern Washington, receives honorable mention. Southern Utah has won the StatSheet Big Sky Player of the Week award once this season.
